What Does an El Iral Day Trip Cost? Three Example Budgets
Updated: Oct 23
An El Iral Day Pass costs US$15 per adult and US$7 per child aged 4–12, with tax included. Your total depends on the extras you choose. Two adults visiting independently with lunch would pay US$82 for admission and lunch; a family of two adults and two eligible children would pay US$136 for the same combination. Your own travel costs are separate.
Use this guide to build a cloud forest day-trip budget before reserving. All prices below were checked against El Iral’s published Day Pass on October 19, 2026. The examples are calculations from individual prices, not special packages, group discounts or quotations for transport outside the published coverage.

Start with admission, then add only what you want
Admission covers self-guided access to the cloud forest trails, with rivers, waterfalls and views along the available routes. You can choose easy, intermediate or advanced hiking according to your group, time and conditions. The Lagoon of Colors is excluded. Meals, shared transport and a private naturalist guide are optional paid extras.
The minimum visitor age is four. The child prices apply to ages 4–12; those children may use the easy and intermediate trails, while the advanced trail is not suitable for children. Confirm your participant ages before calculating the total.
The current price list
Admission: US$15 per adult / US$7 per child aged 4–12.
Shared round-trip transport: US$50 per adult / US$24 per child. The service requires at least two guests per booking.
Breakfast: US$17 per adult / US$13 per child. Lunch: US$26 per adult / US$20 per child. You can choose either meal, both or neither.
Private bilingual naturalist guide: US$150 per group of up to 15 guests, counting adults and children. Larger groups require one guide per 15 guests, rounded up.
These are the published final USD prices, including tax. In your calculation, count each meal and transport extra only for the participants who will use it. For guiding, count everyone in the guided group.
Example 1: two adults, their own transport and lunch
Admission is 2 × US$15 = US$30. Lunch is 2 × US$26 = US$52. The El Iral total is US$82, or US$41 per person.
This suits a pair who want a self-guided walk followed by a reserved meal. The total excludes breakfast, a guide and the cost of reaching El Iral independently. If both adults also choose breakfast, add US$34, bringing admission and both meals to US$116. Do not add the shared transport price if you are arranging your own journey.
Example 2: two adults and two children, with lunch
Assuming both children are aged 4–12, admission is (2 × US$15) + (2 × US$7) = US$44. Lunch is (2 × US$26) + (2 × US$20) = US$92. Admission and lunch total US$136 for the family.
If all four also use the published shared transport service, add (2 × US$50) + (2 × US$24) = US$148. That makes US$284 for admission, lunch and shared round-trip transport. This calculation excludes breakfast, guiding and any separately confirmed surcharge for pickup outside the coverage area.
Example 3: six adults sharing a private guide
For six adults arriving independently and choosing lunch plus a private guide, admission costs US$90 and lunch costs US$156. Add one guide at US$150 for a total of US$396, or US$66 per person. Breakfast and travel to El Iral are excluded.
The guide is priced per group, so its share per person changes with group size. The same admission, lunch and one-guide combination for two adults is US$232, or US$116 each. This difference comes from sharing a fixed guide fee; it is not a discounted admission rate.
Watch the 15-person boundary when planning a larger guided visit. Sixteen guests require two guides, so the guide component alone becomes US$300. Children count toward that limit. A private guide does not make shared transport private.
Avoid surprises when choosing meals and extras
Outside food is prohibited, so a budget without a reserved meal should not assume you can bring a picnic. The service allows you to select breakfast, lunch, both or neither. Vegetarian and vegan meals are available; enter dietary needs and contact El Iral about allergies before finalizing plans.
Before paying, compare the selected extras with your intended day. Shared transport leaves El Iral by 2:00 p.m.; independently arriving visitors must leave by 3:00 p.m. A lunch or guide selection does not extend those departure times.
Check the final total before booking
Choose the date, count adults and children, add admission, then add each selected meal, transport option and the required number of guides. Compare that calculation with the final booking total. Resolve any difference before paying, especially if a pickup address needs a separate arrangement.
Visits operate Wednesday through Sunday and require booking at least 48 hours ahead. Full online payment confirms the reservation and selected extras. Review the current cancellation conditions as part of the purchase decision.
